Warranty Summary
The boiler heats water to boiling, turning it into steam. Steam rises through the supply main to radiators, releasing heat and condensing back into water. Water returns to the boiler through the return main. Most residential systems operate under 1 lb steam pressure.
To fill the system, close the boiler drain valve, open valves on the water level gauge and drain valve, and then open the fill valve to allow water to run into the boiler until it reaches halfway up the water level gauge.
Possible Cause | What To Do |

Thermostat is not set correctly | Reset thermostat above room temperature. |
Burner is not operating properly | Check flame. If it is yellow, burner is not getting enough air. If flame is blue and noisy and seems to lift off burner, burner is getting too much air. Contact your service technician. |
No electric power to boiler | Check overcurrent protection. Check to be sure electric power supply circuit is on. |
Controls out of adjustment | Reset according to instructions. |
Radiators not heating properly | Steam air vents are not operating properly. Check flow control valve (if used). It may be in closed position. |
Poor electrical contact | Check all control terminals and wire joints. |
Rollout switch blown | Have your service technician check heat exchanger for blockage. Replace rollout switch with exact replacement. |
Chimney flue is blocked | Spill switch contacts are open requiring manual reset of spill switch. Have your service technician check and correct chimney problem. |
Vent damper not operating | Consult troubleshooting guide in manual, packaged with vent damper. |
Gas input amount is incorrect | Contact your service technician. |
Not enough ventilation | Contact your service technician. |
Chimney flue is blocked | Have your service technician check and correct, if necessary. |
