Warranty Summary

This Craftsman product has a 2-year limited warranty against defects in material or workmanship for non-expendable parts and a 90-day battery warranty.

Starting the Engine:

  1. Insert the tractor key into the ignition switch.
  2. Place the PTO (Blade Engage) lever in the disengaged (OFF) position.
  3. Engage the tractor's parking brake.
  4. Activate the choke control.
  5. Turn the ignition key clockwise to the START position.
  6. Release the key once engine has fired.

Driving the Tractor:

  1. Depress the brake pedal and move the speed control lever out of parking brake position.
  2. Move the throttle lever into the FAST position.
  3. Place the shift lever in FORWARD or REVERSE.
  4. Release the parking brake and position speed control lever.
  5. Release clutch-brake pedal slowly to move.

Stopping the Engine:

  1. If blades are engaged, disengage them.
  2. Turn ignition key counterclockwise to STOP.
  3. Remove key.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Problem Cause Remedy
Engine fails to start PTO/Blade Engage lever engaged. Place lever in disengaged (OFF) position.
Engine fails to start Parking brake not engaged. Engage parking brake.
Engine fails to start Spark plug wire(s) disconnected. Connect wire(s) to spark plug(s).
Engine fails to start Throttle/Choke control lever not in correct starting position. Place Throttle/Choke lever into the FAST position.
Engine runs erratically Unit running with CHOKE activated. Deactivate the CHOKE.
Engine overheats Engine oil level low. Fill crankcase with proper amount and weight of oil.
Excessive vibration Cutting blade loose or unbalanced. Tighten blade and spindle.
Mower will not mulch grass Engine speed too low. Place throttle in FAST (rabbit) position.
Uneven cut Deck not leveled properly. Perform side-to-side deck adjustment.
