Before using your Microwave Oven

Read through the instruction manual carefully and ensure that you follow the recommendations given. It is important that this instruction book is retained with the appliance for future reference.

Safety instructions

  • Do not tamper with or operate the oven with the door open.
  • Do not allow food spills or cleaner residue to accumulate on door sealing surfaces.
  • Ensure the oven door closes properly and is not damaged.
  • If the door, hinges/latches or door seals are damaged, the microwave must not be operated until repaired.
  • Servicing should only be done by factory-trained personnel.
  • Do not remove the outer case.
  • Install or locate the oven only in accordance with installation instructions.
  • Use the appliance for its intended use only.
  • Do not operate the oven empty.
  • Do not store outdoors or use near water.
  • Do not attempt to dry clothing or newspapers.
  • Do not use the cavity for storage.
  • If smoke is observed, switch off or unplug and keep the door closed. Never use water.
  • Only allow children/infirm persons to use the microwave with adequate supervision and instruction.

Installation

  • Install on a flat, level, stable surface strong enough to bear the oven's weight.
  • Keep away from heat and water sources.
  • Do not block air vents.
  • Place as far away from radios and TV's as possible.
  • If positioned in a corner, leave a gap of at least 10 cm from walls and 10 cm above.

Connecting to the mains

  • Use a 230V, 50Hz, earthed socket outlet.
  • Ensure the extension cord is earthed if used.
  • The appliance must not be used on a non-earth protected power supply.
  • The appliance must be earthed.

Troubleshooting and error codes

If the oven does not start: Checks
Check that the appliance is connected to the mains.
Check that the plug is pushed in properly.
If appropriate, replace the fuse in the plug by another of the same rating and check that the plug is wired correctly.
Check that any switch, at the wall socket or elsewhere in the circuit, is ON.
Check that the wall socket is working by plugging in something else that you know is working.
Check the fuse in the fuse-box.
If the microwaves are not operating: Checks
The child security feature might have been set (available on some models)
Check that the controls have been set correctly.
Check the adjustments/procedures by referring to the instruction manual.
Check that the door is closed properly. (If particles of food or other things remain stuck in the doorway, the door will not close correctly and the microwave oven will not operate.)
Check that the Start button is activated.
