Basic Operation

Selecting an Input Source

Press the corresponding button (TV, OPTICAL, BLUETOOTH, ANALOG) on the remote control or sound bar to choose the audio input.

Adjusting Volume

Use the VOLUME (+/-) buttons on the remote control or the sound bar to increase or decrease the volume. The glowing indicators show the current volume level.

Muting Audio

Press the Mute button to temporarily silence the sound bar. Press it again or use the VOLUME buttons to unmute.

Sound Modes

Select from STANDARD, MOVIE, GAME, or STEREO modes to optimize the sound for different content types. STANDARD, MOVIE, and GAME modes offer surround playback.

Advanced Sound Settings

  • Clear Voice: Enhances human voices for better clarity.
  • Bass Extension: Boosts bass levels for a more impactful sound.

Bluetooth Connectivity

Press the BLUETOOTH button to switch to Bluetooth input. On your Bluetooth device, enable Bluetooth and select "Yamaha SR-C20A" to connect. The BLUETOOTH indicator will glow blue once connected. Then, start playback on your device.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Problem Possible Cause and Solution
Power turns off suddenly
  • Auto Power Standby function is active. Disable it if not desired (p.48).
  • Protection circuitry activated. Unplug the sound bar, check connections, and try again. If persistent, contact service (p.58).
Power cannot be turned on Protection circuitry activated three times consecutively. Unplug and contact service (p.59).
No operations can be performed from sound bar controls Controls are locked. Unlock the Child Lock function (p.49, p.60).
All indicators are off, but power appears on Indicator brightness is set to "Off". Change the brightness (p.43, p.61).
Sound bar does not function correctly Internal microcomputer frozen. Unplug the sound bar for at least 10 seconds, then plug it back in (p.62).
Sound bar turns on by itself Another Bluetooth device is being operated nearby. Terminate the Bluetooth connection (p.40, p.63).
Sound bar cannot be controlled with remote
  • Out of operating range. Move closer.
  • Battery depleted. Replace battery (p.76).
  • Remote control sensor exposed to direct sunlight/strong lighting. Adjust angle/reposition.
Sound bar cannot be controlled using TV's remote
  • HDMI Control function not configured properly. Ensure enabled on both devices and TV audio output is not set to TV speakers (p.47, p.65).
  • TV does not support control functions. Consult TV manual.
No sound
  • Incorrect input source selected.
  • Mute function is active.
  • Volume too low.
  • Power cord not securely connected.
  • Incorrect input jack connection.
  • Unsupported audio signal input. Change TV/AV device audio output.
  • HDMI Control function disabled (when using HDMI ARC). Enable it or use optical cable.
  • TV audio output set to TV speakers. Change setting.
No sound from subwoofer
  • Playback source lacks subwoofer signals. Try content with subwoofer channels.
  • Subwoofer volume too low. Adjust volume (p.37).
Volume decreases when sound bar is turned on Automatic Volume Adjustment function activated. Adjust volume as needed (p.32).
No surround effect
  • Stereo playback is selected. Switch to surround (p.35).
  • Volume too low. Turn up volume.
  • TV/AV device outputs only 2-channel audio. Change to Bitstream.
  • Sound also from TV speakers. Turn TV volume down.
  • Listening too close to the sound bar. Listen from a distance.
Noise is heard Sound bar too close to other digital/high-frequency devices. Move them away.
Cannot connect to Bluetooth device
  • Bluetooth not selected as input.
  • Too far from device. Move closer.
  • Electromagnetic interference nearby. Move away from interfering devices.
  • Bluetooth device doesn't support A2DP profile. Use compatible device.
  • Connection profile corrupted. Delete profile and reconnect.
  • Passkey incorrect (should be "0000").
  • Already connected to another device. Terminate existing connection.
  • Bluetooth function disabled. Enable it (p.51).
No sound or intermittent sound from Bluetooth device
  • Volume on Bluetooth device too low. Raise volume.
  • Bluetooth not selected as input.
  • Playback not active on Bluetooth device. Start playback.
  • Audio output not set to sound bar. Select sound bar.
  • Connection terminated. Reconnect.
  • Too far from sound bar. Move closer.
  • Electromagnetic interference nearby. Move away.
  • Playback active on another Bluetooth device. Stop playback on other device and start on desired device.
App cannot detect sound bar
  • Unsupported app is being used. Use "Sound Bar Remote" only.
  • Bluetooth function on mobile device disabled. Enable it.
  • Location information disabled on Android device. Enable it for detection.
