Basic Operation

  1. Turn on the unit.
  2. Open the disc tray and insert a disc.
  3. Close the disc tray. Playback starts automatically.
  4. Press ▶▶ to pause or ■ to stop playback.
  5. Press ▶▶ again to resume.

Remote Control Usage

  • Use within 6m (20 ft) and point towards the sensor.
  • Insert batteries correctly.
  • Handle with care to avoid damage.

Turning on the Power

  1. Plug in the power cable.
  2. Turn on TV and AV receiver.
  3. Select the AV receiver input.
  4. Press STANDBY/ON or ▶/1 on remote.
  5. Set TV to correct video input.

Setting TV Type/Display and Language

Customize setup via the TV screen menu.

  • Set Color System (NTSC/PAL/MULTI).
  • Set Aspect Ratio (4:3 PAN SCAN, 4:3 LETTER BOX, 16:9).
  • Set OSD Language.
  • Set Audio, Subtitle, Disc Menu Languages (DVD-Video only).

Troubleshooting and error codes

Problem Solution
No power Connect the AC power cord correctly.
Cannot read CD or DVD / "NO DISC" on display Check disc placement. Clean lens. Check disc compatibility. Ensure discs are finalized. Check disc label orientation. Test with other discs. For recorded discs, check file format and sample rate compatibility. Check region code. Check DRM protection for WMA/WMV. Check WMV advanced profile and resolution.
Disc or file not playing Check disc compatibility. Check TV type setting. Ensure correct video connections. For HDMI, set HDMI video to Auto.
No picture Refer to TV manual to select correct video input. Switch TV channels. Check video connections. For HDMI issues, press OPEN/CLOSE, then remote ◀, then SUBTITLE.
Distorted, B&W, or no picture Check disc compatibility. Match TV type setting to disc and TV. Change "TV System" setting. Clean disc surface. For WMV/DivX, lower bitrate. Check "HD JPEG" setting. Disc read time may exceed 30 seconds. MP3 and HD JPEG cannot play simultaneously. Check TV display size and aspect ratio.
Image distortion Check video connections. Clean disc surface.
Image freezes during playback Check disc compatibility. For WMV/DivX, lower bitrate. Check "HD JPEG" setting. Disc read time may exceed 30 seconds. MP3 and HD JPEG cannot play simultaneously. Check TV display size and aspect ratio.
HD JPEG cannot be displayed Check "HD JPEG" setting. Disc read time may exceed 30 seconds. MP3 and HD JPEG cannot play simultaneously.
No sound or distorted sound Adjust volume. Check speaker connections. Check audio connections. Check sample rate and bitrate for MP3/WMA. For WMV/DivX, record at lower bitrate. Check digital connections. If playing DTS, check receiver decoding capability and "Digital Output" setting. Ensure audio format matches receiver. May not support the audio encoding.
No digital output sound If playing DTS, check receiver decoding capability and "Digital Output" setting. Ensure audio format matches receiver.
No sound during DivX® movie playback Check audio format compatibility.
Unit does not respond to remote control Point remote directly at the front panel sensor. Reduce distance to unit. Replace remote batteries. Ensure batteries are inserted with correct polarity.
Buttons do not work Perform a full reset: unplug unit, wait 5-10 seconds, plug back in, turn on. Some operations may be disc-dependent. Refer to disc instructions. Press ◀ twice before selecting menu items. Disc type may limit menu options.
USB device not recognized Check USB device connection. Some USB devices may not be compatible. Set unit to standby, then turn on. Disconnect and reconnect USB device when unit is in standby. Use AC adapter if your USB device has one. Check for "Unsupported device" message and refer to "Supported USB devices" page. Check for "Write-protected" message and refer to "Supported USB devices" page.
Cannot record CD tracks to USB device Check USB device connection. Ensure USB device is compatible. SCMS protected tracks cannot be recorded. Copyrighted CDDA discs cannot be recorded.
Cannot stop recording CD tracks to USB device If "Max file number reached" appears, delete unnecessary files or create new folders. If "USB is full" appears, delete files to make space. If "Max track number reached" appears, rename tracks or create new folders. If "USB device error" appears, check connections. If "Disc error" appears, clean the disc. If "Copy protected" appears, check for SCMS protection.
Cannot play or playback stops when using "MP3 Record" If "USB full", "USB device error", or "Disc error" appears, re-record. Refer to "Stopping recording CD tracks to USB device" for solutions.
Low recording quality, intermittent sound, or noise when recording to USB device Check CD (e.g., quality, noise, or fingerprints/scratches).
