This unit is a portable GPS unit to receive and record position information. Using this unit and the supplied software, you can:
  • Check the locations of where you took pictures on a trip, etc.
  • Apply position information to the pictures you took.

Record the GPS log using the GPS unit

Turn on the unit, before you start taking pictures with your digital camera, camcorder or digital single lens reflex camera. The unit records the GPS log (moving route) during your trip until the power is turned off.

Apply position information to the pictures using "GPS Image Tracker"

  • Launch the supplied software (GPS Image Tracker) and import the GPS log recorded on the unit to your computer.
  • Import the pictures to your computer from your camera, then match the pictures with the GPS log file and apply the position information of where you took the pictures.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Problem Solution
A recorded log file is missing. The GPS unit may have been used in an area where it cannot obtain location data. Avoid using the unit in tunnels, underground, or in areas with obstructions like tall buildings or trees.
The unit cannot receive GPS satellite radio signals. You may be in an area where GPS signals cannot be received. Avoid using the unit in tunnels, underground, or in areas with obstructions like tall buildings or trees.
It takes a long time to receive GPS satellite radio signals. The location acquisition time may vary depending on GPS satellite positions. Refer to "What is GPS?" on page 9 for details.
You press the Power button, but the unit does not turn on.
  • The battery cover may not be making proper contact. Open the battery cover and reinsert the battery.
  • You may have used a battery with low remaining power. Replace the battery with a new one.
  • The battery may not be inserted correctly. Insert the battery correctly according to the "Inserting a battery" procedures (page 15).
Your computer does not recognize the unit. Your computer may not correctly recognize the unit because you connected the unit and computer with the USB cable before starting the computer. Disconnect the USB cable, restart the computer, then reconnect the USB cable.
