To begin using your camcorder, first check that all supplied items are present (Page 12). Then, charge the battery pack (Page 13). Next, turn on the camcorder and set the date and time if it is your first time using it (Page 17). You can also adjust settings like the LCD panel and grip belt before recording (Page 19). Finally, select your recording media, either the hard disk or a "Memory Stick PRO Duo" (Page 20).

For recording movies or still images, simply turn the power on, press the "EASY" button, and then press START/STOP to record movies or the PHOTO button for still images. To stop recording, press START/STOP again.
