Placing the Regulator in Service:

  • Before Connecting: Check oil level and dielectric strength, perform insulation power factor test, verify nameplate settings, and ensure the regulator is in neutral position.
  • Connecting: Connect 'S', 'L', and 'SL' bushings according to diagrams, set Vari-Amp™ limits, and configure Accu/Stat™ Control.
  • Switching "On-Line": Follow specific steps involving bypass switches, power sources, and fuses, ensuring the tap-changer is in neutral and the control panel is disabled.

Checking Regulator Operation:

  • Run tapchanger in manual mode until out of band (LOW/HIGH), then return to automatic to verify band return.
  • Check Vari-Amp™ limit switches by attempting to exceed set positions.

Removing the Regulator From Service:

  • Follow detailed bypass procedures, ensuring neutral position and control panel disablement.
  • De-energize system components sequentially and exercise care during physical removal.

Maintenance:

  • General Instructions: Regular operational checks and periodic inspections are required. Always de-energize and ground before maintenance.
  • Operational Checks: Monitor output voltage, check Accu/Stat™ calibration, and verify Vari-Amp™ limit switches.
  • Periodic Inspection: Includes oil testing, checking contact wear, and fan maintenance. Specific steps for untanking are provided.
