Troubleshooting and error codes

SYMPTOM POSSIBLE CAUSE SUGGESTED SOLUTION
Power No power Safety devices are functioning. Disconnect the AC adaptor cord; then, plug it into the wall outlet again. (p. 11)
The battery pack is not charged. Charge the battery pack sufficiently. (p. 11)
The power source is not correctly connected. Connect the power source correctly. (pp. 13, 14)
Depleted battery pack. Use a fully charged battery pack. (p. 11)
Recording Power goes off soon after coming on. Dew in VIEWCAM Wait until dew dries. (p. 2)
VIEWCAM is in VCR mode. Slide the Operate switch to CAMERA. (p. 22)
Power on but no image on the monitor. Erasure protection hole is covered. Slide the red projection to open the hole. (p. 5)
TV not properly adjusted. Adjust the TV. (See TV operation manual.)
White balance is set improperly. Reset the white balance or set the VIEWCAM to Full Auto mode. (p. 22, 41)
Poor colour Poor lighting. Apply additional lighting or correct temperature of lighting. (p. 45)
Fuzzy picture Dust or other foreign matter on lens. Clean the lens.
Not properly focused. Adjust the focus or set the VIEWCAM to Full Auto mode. (p. 22)
Monitor picture is too dark. High-speed shutter is set to high speed mode. Set the VIEWCAM to Full Auto mode. (p. 22)
Monitor picture not easy to see. Inappropriate picture adjustments Adjust the picture. (p. 20)
No image appears. Improperly connected to TV. Reconnect properly. (p. 46)
TV's channel or TV/VIDEO switch is not properly set. Tune TV to RF converter's output channel (VHF channel 0 or 1). (p. 48)

Playback Poor colour White balance not properly adjusted during recording. Make sure the white balance is properly adjusted during recording. (p. 41)
Dirty video heads Call for service.
Video noise in image Worn video heads Call for service.
Old or worn tape Use a new video cassette. (p. 5)
The infrared remote control does not function. The lithium battery has run down. Replace the lithium battery with a new one. (p. 10)
The remote control is being used beyond its operating range. Use the remote control within its operating range. (p. 36)
Intense daylight is falling on the VIEWCAM's photoreceptor. Avoid letting intense daylight fall on the VIEWCAM's photoreceptor. (p. 36)
There is an obstacle between the remote control and the VIEWCAM's photoreceptor. Remove the obstacle or use the remote control from a different angle. (p. 36)
Cassette cannot be inserted. Cassette is not right side up or is backwards. Check cassette positioning and reinsert. (p. 15)
Another cassette is in the unit. Press the EJECT button and remove. (p. 15)
VIEWCAM is in Camera Recording mode. Press REC START/STOP button to stop recording and try again. (p. 22)
Cassette won't eject. Tape is already completely wound. Rewind to desired point. (p. 31)
