CD section does not function Clean the objective lens. Check playback operation. If still not functioning, check power supply, 16.93 MHz clock, reset terminal, pickup-in switch (SW702), and focus system.
CD operating keys don't work Check power supply, 16.93 MHz clock, and reset terminal.
Laser failure. Check for +5V at emitter of Q204, collector of Q204, VDD of IC802 (pin 75), VCC of IC801 (pin 1). Check for 0V at SEL of IC802 (pin 74). Check collector of Q801 for ~1.8V. If laser does not come on or pickup is faulty, check associated components and connections.
Focus failure. Check if optical pickup moves up and down. Check waveform at pin 62 (FEI) of IC802 and input at pin 63 (SBAD) of IC802. Check periphery of IC801 and BI801/CNS801.
Focus servo sawtooth wave failure. Check sawtooth wave output at pin 66 (FOO) of IC802. Check +8.1V at IC803 (pins 1, 30). Check sawtooth wave at IC803 (pins 20, 21) and BI801/CNS801 (pins 3, 4).
Spindle motor clv servo failure. Check wave output at pin 55 (DMO) of IC802. Check wave at IC803 (pins 5, 6) and BI803/CNS803 (pins 5, 6).
Track search failure Check if sled motor runs in FF/REW. Check waveform at IC802 pin 67 (TRO), IC801 pin 12 (TEO), IC802 pins 64 (TEI) & 65 (TEZI), and IC802 pins 60 (RFZI) & 61 (RFRP).
Sled motor operation failure. Check sled feed signal at IC802 pin 71 (FMO) and IC803 pins 12, 13. Check signal at IC803 pins 10, 11. Check voltage at sled motor terminals.
Sled servo failure. Check sled signal output at IC802 pin 71 (FMO).
