Basic Operation Summary

Charging the Battery

Before first use, charge the rechargeable battery. Place the main unit on the battery charger and connect the AC adapter. Charging takes approximately 3 hours.

Inserting a MiniDisc

  1. Move the OPEN knob to open the disc holder.
  2. Insert the MiniDisc with the arrow end first.
  3. Close the disc holder.

Recording

  1. Insert a MiniDisc.
  2. Connect an external device or microphone.
  3. Press and hold the REC button for 2 seconds.
  4. (Optional) Press the GROUP button to select group recording mode.
  5. Adjust recording level if necessary.
  6. Press the MODE button to select recording mode (SP, LP2, LP4).
  7. Start playback on the connected equipment or speak into the microphone to begin recording.

Playback

  1. Insert a MiniDisc.
  2. Press the GROUP button to select group playback if applicable.
  3. Press the PLAY button (or move the M button towards ►).
  4. Use the M button to navigate tracks, adjust volume, and select playback modes (random, repeat, intro play).

Editing

Various editing functions are available, including titling, erasing tracks (one or all), dividing tracks, combining tracks, moving tracks, and managing groups. Access these through the menu system using the M button.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Symptom Possible Cause Solution
Unit does not operate. Rechargeable battery is depleted. Charge the battery.
Alkaline batteries are depleted. Replace the alkaline batteries.
AC adapter is not connected properly. Connect the AC adapter securely.
No sound during playback. Volume is set to minimum. Increase the volume.
Headphones are not plugged in correctly. Plug in headphones securely.
Recording is not possible. MD is full. Replace with a new MD or erase existing content.
Write-protect tab on MD is open. Close the write-protect tab.
