Service Mode

A. Market / Region SETUP

In the initial condition for this model, Market and Region information are undefined. Be sure to set up Market/Region when updating the system using CD-R or replacing a DVD substrate. If "Region Undefined" is displayed, set up Market/Region.

B. How to enter Service Mode

You can enter Service Mode in any of the following ways:

  1. Using the buttons on the main unit: Display "No Disc" by Function button, then immediately push and POWER buttons simultaneously, push PLAY button.
  2. Pushing the covered key located beneath Book Mark key on RB-1500 or REM-S1500.
  3. Simultaneously pushing both Shift key and ON SCREEN key on RB-TS780.

C. Setup Procedures

  1. Display SERVICE MODE screen.
  2. Display Internal Setup screen.
  3. Setting Market code: Push numeric buttons on the remote controller.
  4. Setting Region code: Push ENT and then each button on the remote controller.
  5. Saving settings: Push ENT button while the indicator is on Exit area.
  6. Finishing settings: Power OFF.

IMPORTANT NOTE

Once the "Market/Region" settings are written into EEPROM (IC801) on the DVD substrate, they cannot be reset. Updating the system using CD-R enables you to make new settings.

HOW TO LOAD SOFTWARE FOR MPEG P.W.BOARD

1. Power on, open tray. 2. Load CD-ROM for UPDATE software, close tray. 3. Tray opens and FL display remains "UP DATING". 4. "GOOD-BY" disappears when software loading is finished. 5. Set up market code and region code by "SERVICE MODE".

CAUTIONS FOR PWB OR IC ASSY EXCHANGE

After replacing the MAIN board or IC ASSY, load the software by the newest CD-R, and check operation.

HOW TO TAKE OUT A DISK

If the power is not turned on, turn and take out gear shown in the figure to extract the disk.
