Turning the power on and off

Press the /ON button to turn the unit on. The STANDBY indicator goes out. Press it again to turn the unit off, and the STANDBY indicator lights. The unit responds to the remote control when the mains lead is connected.

Direct start function

In standby mode, pressing PLAY activates playback, and pressing TU/BAND selects the tuner function.

Selecting the function

Press the FUNCTION button to cycle through DVD, VIDEO 1, VIDEO 2, FM, and AM. Disc play stops when the function changes.

Adjusting the volume

Use the VOLUME control or the +/– buttons on the remote control. The volume level (VOL 0–VOL 80) is displayed.

Muting

Press the MUTE button to temporarily reduce volume; the control illumination blinks. Press again to restore the previous setting.

Bass boost

Press the BASS button to cycle through Bass OFF, Bass ON1, and Bass ON2.

Sound mode

Press the SOUND button to select sound modes like POP, CLASSIC, ROCK, JAZZ.

Clock Adjustment

Use SHIFT + CLOCK buttons to enter clock setting mode. Adjust hours and minutes using the or buttons, then press SHIFT + ADJUST to set. Press SHIFT + ADJUST again to start the clock. Press SHIFT + CLOCK to display the time during operation.

Surround Mode Selection

Press the SURROUND button to cycle through PROLOGIC, 3-CH, THEATER, HALL, SURR OFF, DOLBY D modes. Specific modes may not be available for all discs.

Disc Playback

Use PLAY, STOP, PAUSE/STEP, FWD, REV buttons for playback control. LAST MEMORY PLAY allows resuming playback from where you stopped. Other functions include Fast Play, Slow-Motion, Still Picture, Multi-Angle viewing, Picture Zoom, and Programmed Play.

File Playback (MP3 CD)

Select and play MP3 files using the navigation buttons and ENTER/PLAY. Use NEXT/PREV for file skipping.

Initial Settings

Access SET UP MENU via the SET UP button to configure Language, Display (TV TYPE), and Speaker settings.

Parental Control

Set a parental lock level using a 4-digit password to restrict playback of certain DVDs.

Troubleshooting and error codes

SYMPTOM POSSIBLE CAUSE CORRECTIVE ACTION
No picture. The wrong function is selected. Select the correct function.
No disc is loaded or an unplayable disc is loaded. Load a disc or load a playable disc. (Check the disc logo, type, colour system and regional code.)
The TV is not set to receive signal from the unit. Select the correct input function on the TV.
No sound. The wrong function is selected. Select the correct function.
Volume control is set to minimum. Turn up the volume.
The playback picture is poor. An unplayable disc is loaded. Load a playable disc. (Check the disc logo, type, colour system and regional code.)
" " appears on the TV screen. The selected function does not operate on the disc now. The feature or action cannot be completed at this time because:
  • The feature is not available at the moment.
  • The DVD software restricts it.
  • The DVD software does not support the feature (e.g., angles).
The player does not start play. No disc is loaded. Load a disc.
An unplayable disc is loaded. Load a playable disc. (Check the disc logo, type, colour system and regional code.)
The disc is loaded with the label side down. Load the disc on the disc tray correctly.
The disc is dirty. Clean the disc or replace it.
"PARENTAL" is set. Cancel the parental lock function or change the rating level. Reset it after play.
The operation or display is not normal. The memory must be reset. 1. Disconnect the mains lead.
2. While pressing both BASS and SOUND buttons at the same time, connect the mains lead.
3. Resume operation.
The remote control does not work properly. The batteries in the remote control are weak, or installed incorrectly. Check the battery polarity (+ or -).
Replace the batteries.
The remote control is not aimed at the remote sensor window. Aim the remote control at the remote sensor window.
