  • To turn the camera on, press and hold the Power button.
  • To turn the camera off, press and hold the Power button.
  • To start shooting still images, set the [Rec. Mode] to [Still Image] and press the shutter button.
  • To start recording movies, set the [Rec. Mode] to [Movie] and press the video recording button.
  • To play back images, press the playback button.
  • To connect to a computer, turn off the camera, connect the USB cable to the camera and computer, then turn the camera on.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Camera does not turn on Battery is not inserted properly Check how the battery is inserted.
Battery is depleted Charge the battery.
Nothing displays on the LCD screen Camera is connected to a computer The LCD screen ordinarily turns off when the camera is connected to a computer.
Camera is connected to a TV The LCD screen turns off when the camera is connected to a TV. When shooting a movie with , shooting screen is displayed not on the TV but on the LCD screen.
The [Auto Power Off] function is set Press and hold the button to turn the camera on. The LCD screen is displayed.
[Power Saving] (power saving function) is set When you are using the power saving function, the LCD screen automatically turns off if there are no operations for a fixed time. Pressing the button turns it back on. You can also disable the power saving function by setting (Off) on [Power Saving] in the [Setting]. (p.42)
LCD screen is difficult to see The brightness of the LCD screen is dark Adjust the brightness on [Brightness Level] in the [Setting]. (p.41)
