Dishwasher Operation Summary:

  • Loading: Remove excess food, load items with soiled surfaces facing down and inward. Place plastics and small items in the upper rack. Load sharp knives with handles up.
  • Detergent: Use automatic dishwasher detergent only. Add just before starting a cycle. Premeasured tablets and packs are recommended.
  • Rinse Aid: Essential for drying and preventing spots. Adjust dispenser setting as needed.
  • Cycles and Options: Select soil cycles (ProWash, Tough, Normal, Express Wash) and speed cycles (Rinse Only). Customize with options like Hi-Temp Wash, Heat Dry, Sani Rinse, and Delay.
  • Starting a Cycle: Select cycle and options, press Start/RESUME, and close the door firmly within 4 seconds.
  • Adding Dishes: Open door slightly to pause, add dish, press Start/RESUME, and close door firmly within 4 seconds.
  • Canceling a Cycle: Press and hold Cancel/DRAIN for 3 seconds.
  • Filter Maintenance: Clean filters periodically as per the chart to maintain performance.
  • Care: Clean exterior with a damp cloth. Clean interior monthly with a dishwasher cleaner or vinegar rinse.

Troubleshooting and error codes

PROBLEM SOLUTION
DISHWASHER DOES NOT RUN
  • Press Start/RESUME and close the door within 4 seconds.
  • Be sure the door is closed and latched.
  • Check for interference from dishes with wash system.
  • Check for items protruding through racks or hitting spray arms. Adjust loading.
  • Awaken controls by pressing Start/RESUME or Cancel, or opening/closing door.
  • Ensure Control Lock is off.
  • Select a cycle.
  • Check power supply (fuse/breaker).
  • Call for service if lights other than Start/RESUME blink or numeric display shows "F2E2".
DETERGENT REMAINS IN THE DISPENSER OR TABLET IS ON BOTTOM OF TUB
  • Check for dishware blocking dispenser opening.
  • Ensure detergent is fresh and lump-free.
  • Ensure cycle has completed (Clean light on) or resume it.
CYCLE RUNS TOO LONG
  • Cycles may run up to 3 hours for energy efficiency.
  • Check water heater setting (120°F/49°C is best).
  • Options like Heat Dry add time.
  • Try Express Wash cycle.
  • Run hot water at sink before starting.
DISHWASHER NOT DRYING
  • Plastic items may need towel drying.
  • Use rinse aid and Heat Dry/Extended Heat Dry option.
  • Proper loading is crucial.
  • Unload bottom rack first.
  • Locate items on slanted side of rack.
WILL NOT FILL
  • Ensure water is turned on.
  • Check overfill protection float for obstructions.
  • Check for suds; they may prevent filling.
WATER REMAINS IN THE TUB/WILL NOT DRAIN
  • Ensure cycle has completed or resume it.
  • Check disposer knockout plug removal.
  • Check for kinks in drain hose.
  • Check for food obstructions in drain/disposer.
  • Check house fuse/circuit breaker.
HARD WATER (WHITE RESIDUE ON DISHWASHER INTERIOR OR GLASSWARE)
  • Use a water softener if hardness is 15 grains or more.
  • Use commercial cleaner monthly.
  • Clean filters monthly.
  • Always use rinse aid and high-quality detergent.
  • Use a detergent booster/water softener additive.
ODORS
  • Run a rinse cycle for partial loads until full.
  • Run a vinegar rinse (2 cups white vinegar in a cup on lower rack) with Heat Dry off. No detergent.
NOISY
  • Surging sounds during draining are normal.
  • Water valve hissing is normal.
  • Snap sounds from dispenser opening and door opening are normal.
  • Ensure proper installation.
  • Check for items interfering with wash arms.
  • Readjust dishware.
FOOD SOILS REMAIN ON DISHES
  • Ensure filters are properly installed and clean.
  • Ensure proper loading.
  • Select proper cycle and options (Tough cycle with Hi-Temp Wash).
  • Ensure incoming water temperature is at least 120°F (49°C).
  • Use proper amount of fresh detergent.
  • Scrape food from dishes before loading.
DISHES DIRTY/SUDS IN DISHWASHER/CYCLE NOT COMPLETE
  • Check for suds; may indicate incorrect detergent, insufficient rinse aid, excessive detergent, or inadequate rinsing of hand-washed dishes.
DID NOT SANITIZE
  • Cycle was interrupted or water heater temp is too low (set to 120°F/49°C).
DAMAGE TO DISHWARE
  • Improper loading can cause chipping or damage.
BLINKING LIGHTS
  • Indicates paused cycle or interruption. Press Start/RESUME and close door within 4 seconds.
  • If Clean light or other lights blink and unit won't run, call for service.
CLOUDY OR SPOTTED DISHWARE (AND HARD WATER SOLUTION)
  • Adjust rinse aid and detergent amount.
  • Confirm cloudiness is removable by soaking in vinegar. If it disappears, it's hard water; adjust detergent/rinse aid.
  • Ensure incoming water temp is 120°F (49°C).
  • Try Hi-Temp Wash and Sani Rinse.
  • Run a vinegar rinse.
ETCHING (PERMANENT CLOUDINESS)
  • Glassware is permanently damaged. Adjust detergent to water hardness, stop pre-washing, and use water heating options only when incoming water temp is below 120°F (49°C).
LEAKING WATER
  • Ensure proper installation and level.
  • Suds can cause overflow; measure detergent accurately, use dishwasher-specific detergent.
  • Avoid overfilling rinse aid dispenser.
TUB IS DISCOLORED
  • High iron content or tomato-based foods can cause discoloration.
  • Use a citrus-based cleaner.
