Troubleshooting and error codes

Problem/Message Solution/Explanation
CAMERA TEMPERATURE IS HIGH PLEASE TURN CAMERA OFF TO ALLOW IT TO COOL DOWN PLEASE WAIT Turn off the power of this unit, let it cool down before turning on the power again.
Buttons on the touch screen do not work. Tap with fingers. Do not use fingernails or gloves. Disable "SCREEN LOCK". Save data before service. Connect to PC via USB, select device, press and hold START/STOP for 2 sec. for "PLAYBACK ON PC". Operations on computer.
Image is grainy. Digital zoom used. Image becomes grainy as it is digitally enlarged.
This unit heats up. Not a malfunction. May become warm with long use. Stop use if it gets too warm.
Language on the display changed. May occur when connecting to TV with different language via HDMI mini cable.
When connected to TV via HDMI mini cable, proper images and sounds are not output. Disconnect/reconnect HDMI cable. Turn TV and unit off/on. Adjust TV screen.
HDMI-CEC functions do not work properly. Set "HDMI CONTROL" to "OFF" if TVs operate differently.
Unit operates slowly when switching modes or power. Copy files to computer, erase from unit. (Many recorded files take time to respond.)
This unit does not function properly and error messages appear. Reset unit. Close monitor, turn off power, remove AC adapter, press Reset button. If problem persists, contact JVC dealer/service center.
CHARGE lamp and POWER/ACCESS lamp blinking, operation disabled. Reset unit. Close monitor, turn off power, remove AC adapter, press Reset button. If problem persists, contact JVC dealer/service center.
Unable to copy files to computer's HDD. Install Everio MediaBrowser 4 software. Ensure enough free space on computer's HDD.
Unable to copy files to DVD or Blu-ray disc with a PC. Requires a recordable DVD or Blu-ray drive for the PC.
Cannot upload file to YouTube. Requires a YouTube account. Unit does not convert files for uploading. Refer to Everio MediaBrowser 4 help file.
Using a Mac computer. Load files using "Copying to Mac Computer" method.
Computer cannot recognize SDXC card. Confirm and update computer's OS.
LCD monitor is difficult to see. May be difficult in bright areas/direct sunlight.
Color/brightness changes, horizontal stripes/flickers appear. May occur with fluorescent/mercury lamps. Not a malfunction. Try setting image stabilizer to "ON (AIS)".
Band or ball of bright light appears on LCD monitor. Change unit's direction to prevent light source. Not a malfunction.
Recorded subject is too dark. Use backlight compensation. Use "GAIN UP". Set "BRIGHTNESS ADJUST" to "+".
Recorded subject is too bright. Set backlight compensation to "OFF". Set "BRIGHTNESS ADJUST" to "-".
Color looks strange (bluish, reddish). Wait for white balance adjustment. Set "WHITE BALANCE" to "MANUAL" and select appropriate light source setting (FINE/CLOUD/HALOGEN/MWB).
Color looks different. Set "WHITE BALANCE" accordingly.
Bright or dark spots on screen. Some pixels may be bright/dark spots (0.01%). Not a malfunction. Spots will not be recorded.

RECORDING FAILURE Reset unit.
CANNOT TAKE MORE STILL IMAGES AT THIS TIME Stop video recording before taking still images. Insert SD card before powering on. Avoid impact/vibration.
PLAYBACK FAILED Remove/re-insert SD card. Clean terminals. Insert SD card before powering on. Avoid impact/vibration.
UNSUPPORTED SCENE! / UNSUPPORTED FILE! Use files recorded with this unit. Files from other devices may not be playable.
THIS FILE IS PROTECTED Switch off "PROTECT/CANCEL" in "EDIT" menu.
CHECK CARD'S WRITE PROTECTION SWITCH Set SD card write protect switch to off.
INSUFFICIENT AVAILABLE SPACE Delete files, move files to PC/device, or replace SD card. Check free space before combining seamless videos.
RECORDABLE MANAGEMENT CAPACITY LEVEL HAS BEEN REACHED Move files/folders to PC. Format memory/SD card with "FILE + MANAGEMENT NO".
SCENE QUANTITY EXCEEDED LIMIT Move files/folders to PC. Format memory/SD card with "FILE + MANAGEMENT NO".
NUMBER OF FOLDERS OVERFLOW Move files/folders to PC. Format memory/SD card with "FILE + MANAGEMENT NO".
FILE QUANTITY LIMIT EXCEEDED Move files/folders to PC. Format memory/SD card with "FILE + MANAGEMENT NO".
NO FILES Check "REC MEDIA FOR IMAGE/VIDEO" settings. Record to correct media. Reset unit. Protect from vibration/shock.
RECORDING CANCELLED Set "REC MEDIA FOR VIDEO" to "SD CARD", then record to SD card. Reset unit. Protect from vibration/shock.
DATA RECORDED FILE IS TOO SMALL TO BE SAVED (CONTINUE RECORDING?) Time-lapse stopped with very short recorded time (e.g., 0:00:00:17) means video cannot be saved.
