Getting Started

Verifying the Accessories

Check that all included accessories are present. If any are missing or defective, contact your JVC dealer.

Turning on this Unit

Open the LCD monitor to turn the unit on. Close the LCD monitor to turn it off.

Charging

Connect the AC adapter to charge the built-in battery. The CHARGE lamp indicates charging status. Charging cannot be performed in extreme temperatures.

Quad Proof

The unit is waterproof, dust-proof, drop-proof, and freeze-proof. Follow precautions for underwater use and low temperatures, including ensuring all covers are tightly closed.

Grip Adjustment

Adjust the grip belt for a secure hold to prevent dropping.

Inserting an SD Card

Insert an SD card into the terminal cover. Ensure it is inserted correctly. Format the card if it's new or used on other devices.

Using the Touch Screen

Operate the unit by tapping or dragging on the LCD screen. Adjust the touch screen if response is inaccurate.

Names of Buttons and Functions on the LCD Monitor

Familiarize yourself with the various buttons and indicators on the recording and playback screens.

Clock Setting

Set the date and time for accurate recording. Adjust for time zone differences when traveling.

Using this Unit Overseas

Use a converter plug for charging the battery pack in different countries. Adjust the clock to local time when traveling.

Setting Daylight Saving Time

Enable DST for automatic time adjustment during daylight saving periods.

Taking Videos in Auto Mode

Use Intelligent Auto mode for automatic adjustment of settings like brightness and focus. Press the START/STOP button to begin recording.

Scenes of Intelligent Auto

The camera automatically selects scenes for optimal shooting conditions.

Using the Silent Mode

Use Silent mode to record quietly in dark environments. Operation sounds can also be muted individually.

Troubleshooting and error codes

When the unit is not working properly Troubleshooting Steps
Resetting this Unit 1. Open the terminal cover.
2. Remove power cord and all connecting cables.
3. Close the LCD monitor to turn off this unit.
4. Press the Reset button gently with a pointed object.
Charging Unable to charge the battery:
- Ensure the AC adapter is correctly connected.
- Charge within the recommended temperature range (10°C to 35°C).
- Use only the supplied AC adapter.
The remaining battery display is not correct:
- This can occur after prolonged use in extreme temperatures or repeated charging.
The battery runs out quickly even after charging:
- Use the supplied AC adapter.
- Battery performance may temporarily drop in cold temperatures (-10°C to 0°C).
- If the battery life is significantly reduced, it may need replacement.
Power supply Unable to turn on the power:
- Ensure the battery has sufficient charge. Charge for at least 40 minutes.
- If it still doesn't turn on, reset the unit.
Recording Recording cannot be performed:
- Check the button.
- Set to the recording mode by tapping the REC button.
Recording stops automatically:
- Recording stops after 12 consecutive hours.
- Turn off and on again if the unit overheats.
The continuous shooting speed of still images is slow:
- May drop due to repeated use, SD card type, or recording conditions.
The focus is not adjusted automatically:
- Adjust manually in dark places or low contrast scenes.
- Wipe the lens with a cleaning cloth.
Zoom does not work:
- Digital zoom is not available for still image recording or time-lapse recording.
Mosaic-type noise occurs:
- Set "VIDEO QUALITY" to "UXP" or "XP".
The inside of the lens is foggy:
- Open terminal cover, close LCD monitor, and leave for a while to reduce temperature.
Preventing fogging inside the lens:
1. Avoid direct sunlight.
2. Use a tripod.
3. Leave the terminal cover open while recording (waterproof, dust-proof, shockproof features disabled).
4. Turn off power when not recording.
During charging:
- Charge in low humidity. Avoid air-conditioned rooms during summer.
SD Card Cannot insert the SD card:
- Ensure correct orientation.
- Do not use miniSD or microSD cards.
Unable to copy to SD card:
- Set "REC MEDIA FOR VIDEO" / "REC MEDIA FOR IMAGE" to SD card.
- Format the SD card if it's new or used on other devices.
- Release write protection switch if present.
The motion is choppy:
- Use a high-speed SD card (Class 4 or higher).
- Clean SD card terminals.
- Format the SD card.
- Verify PC system requirements.
Cannot find a recorded file:
- Change playback media.
- Select "PLAYBACK OTHER FILE".
Images do not appear on the TV properly:
- Disconnect and reconnect cables.
- Reset the unit.
Images are projected vertically on the TV:
- Set "VIDEO OUTPUT" to "4:3". Adjust TV screen.
The image displayed on TV is too small:
- Set "VIDEO OUTPUT" to "16:9".
When connected to TV via HDMI mini cable, proper images and sounds are not output:
- Disconnect and reconnect HDMI mini cable.
- Turn the unit off and on again.
Playback Sound or video is interrupted:
- This is normal for scene transitions.
There is no sound:
- Turn off Silent mode.
- Set "OPERATION SOUND" to "ON".
- Audio is not recorded for TIME-LAPSE RECORDING.
The same image is displayed for a long time:
- Use a high-speed SD card.
- Clean SD card terminals.
- Format the SD card.
Screen/Image The LCD monitor is difficult to see:
- Avoid bright sunlight.
Color and brightness changes, horizontal stripes and flickers appear:
- Not a malfunction. Try setting Image Stabilizer to "ON (AIS)".
A band or ball of bright light appears:
- Change the unit's direction to avoid light source.
The recorded subject is too dark:
- Use backlight compensation.
- Use "GAIN UP".
- Adjust "BRIGHTNESS ADJUST" to "+".
The recorded subject is too bright:
- Turn off backlight compensation.
- Adjust "BRIGHTNESS ADJUST" to "-".
The color looks strange:
- Wait for white balance to adjust naturally.
- Set "WHITE BALANCE" to "MANUAL" and adjust.
There are bright or dark spots on the screen:
- Not a malfunction; these are dead pixels that won't be recorded.
Other Problems The buttons on the touch screen do not work:
- Touch with finger, not fingernail or glove.
- Disable "SCREEN LOCK".
- Connect to computer via USB for service.
The image is grainy:
- Due to digital zoom.
This unit heats up:
- Normal; stop use if it becomes too warm.
The language on the display changed:
- May occur when connected to TV via HDMI mini cable with different language.
When connected to TV via HDMI mini cable, proper images and sounds are not output:
- Disconnect and reconnect HDMI mini cable.
- Turn the unit off and on again.
HDMI-CEC functions do not work properly:
- Set "HDMI CONTROL" to "OFF".
The unit operates slowly:
- Copy files to computer and erase from unit if many files are present.
This unit does not function properly and error messages appear. Reset the unit. If the problem persists, contact JVC dealer or service center.
CHARGE lamp and POWER/ACCESS lamp blinking and operation is disabled Reset the unit. If the problem persists, contact JVC dealer or service center.
Error Message? SET DATE/TIME!: Reset clock and set again.
COMMUNICATION ERROR: Reconnect USB, turn devices off/on, reset unit.
FORMAT ERROR!: Check procedure, reset unit.
ERROR IN BUILT-IN MEMORY!: Reset unit. If persistent, backup and format built-in memory.
MEMORY CARD ERROR!: Check compatibility, reset unit, re-insert card, clean terminals, format card if necessary.
NOT FORMATTED: Select OK/YES to format.
RECORDING FAILURE: Reset unit.
CANNOT TAKE MORE STILL IMAGES AT THIS TIME: Stop video recording first.
PLAYBACK FAILED: Remove/re-insert SD card, clean terminals, insert before power on, avoid impact.
UNSUPPORTED SCENE! / UNSUPPORTED FILE!: Use files recorded with this unit.
THIS FILE IS PROTECTED: Release protection in EDIT menu.
CHECK CARD'S WRITE PROTECTION SWITCH: Turn switch to off.
INSUFFICIENT AVAILABLE SPACE: Delete files, move to computer, or use a new card.
RECORDABLE MANAGEMENT CAPACITY LEVEL HAS BEEN REACHED: Backup files, format built-in memory/SD card.
SCENE QUANTITY EXCEEDED LIMIT: Backup files, format built-in memory/SD card.
NUMBER OF FOLDERS OVERFLOW: Backup files, format built-in memory/SD card.
FILE QUANTITY LIMIT EXCEEDED: Backup files, format built-in memory/SD card.
NO FILES: Check media settings.
RECORDING CANCELLED: Set REC MEDIA to SD CARD, record to SD card, reset unit, protect from vibration.
DATA RECORDED FILE IS TOO SMALL TO BE SAVED (CONTINUE RECORDING?): Ensure sufficient recording time.
