Getting Started

Turning on this Unit:

Open the LCD monitor to turn on the unit. Close the LCD monitor to turn off the power.

Charging:

Connect the AC adapter to the unit and an AC outlet. The CHARGE lamp indicates charging status.

Inserting an SD Card:

Open the terminal cover, close the LCD monitor, and insert an SD card.

Using the Touch Screen:

Tap or drag on the LCD monitor to operate the unit. Adjust the touch panel response if needed.

Recording in Auto Mode:

Open the LCD monitor and press the START/STOP button to begin recording. The unit automatically adjusts settings.

Using the Silent Mode:

Tap MENU, then SILENT, and select ON to record quietly without operation sounds and with a darkened LCD monitor.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Problem Solution
When the unit is not working properly Reset this unit by opening the terminal cover, removing power cord and cables, closing LCD monitor, and pressing the reset button with a pointed object.
Battery Pack - Unable to charge the battery. Ensure charging with supplied AC adapter. Check connection. Charge within 10°C to 35°C (50°F to 95°F). Use original AC adapter.
Battery Pack - The remaining battery display is not correct. Use in extreme temperatures or repeated charging may affect display.
Battery Pack - The battery runs out quickly even after charging. Use original AC adapter. Battery performance drops in cold temperatures (-10°C to 0°C). Replace battery if it runs out very quickly even after full charge.
Power supply - Unable to turn on the power. Charge the battery for more than 20 minutes if the power is low.
Recording - Recording cannot be performed. Check the REC button. Set to recording mode.
Recording - Recording stops automatically. Recording stops after 12 or more consecutive hours. Turn off and on the unit. Unit may stop automatically to protect circuit when temperature rises.
Recording - The continuous shooting speed of still images is slow. Speed may drop with repeated use, depending on SD card or recording conditions.
Recording - The focus is not adjusted automatically. Adjust focus manually in dark places or low contrast. Wipe lens. Cancel manual focus in recording menu.
Recording - Zoom does not work. Digital zoom is not available in still image mode or time-lapse recording. Set "ZOOM" in the menu.
Recording - Mosaic-type noise occurs. Set "VIDEO QUALITY" to "UXP" or "XP".
SD Card - Cannot insert the SD card. Insert in correct direction. Do not use miniSD/microSD cards.
SD Card - Unable to copy to SD card. Format the SD card using "FORMAT SD CARD" in "MEDIA SETTINGS".
Playback - Sound or video is interrupted. Interruption between scenes is normal.
Playback - There is no sound. Turn off Silent Mode. Set "OPERATION SOUND" to "ON". Audio sound is not recorded for time-lapse recording.
Playback - The same image is displayed for a long time. Use high speed SD card. Clean terminals. Format SD card.
Playback - The motion is choppy. Use high speed SD card. Clean terminals. Format SD card. Verify PC system requirements.
Playback - Cannot find a recorded file. Select "PLAYBACK OTHER FILE" in the menu.
Playback - Images do not appear on the TV properly. Disconnect/reconnect cables. Reset the unit.
Playback - Images are projected vertically on the TV. Set "VIDEO OUTPUT" to "4:3". Adjust TV screen.
Playback - The image displayed on TV is too small. Set "VIDEO OUTPUT" to "16:9".
Playback - When connected to TV via HDMI, proper images/sounds not output. Disconnect/reconnect HDMI cable. Turn unit off/on.
Editing/Copying - Unable to delete file. Files protected cannot be deleted. Release protection.
Computer - Unable to copy files to computer HDD. Install provided software. Ensure enough free space.
Computer - Unable to copy files to DVD/Blu-ray disc. Requires a recordable DVD or Blu-ray drive.
Computer - Cannot upload file to YouTube. Check YouTube account. File format conversion not possible on unit.
Computer - I am using a Mac computer. Use specific method for Mac file transfer.
Computer - Computer cannot recognize SDXC card. Confirm and update computer OS.
Screen/Image - LCD monitor difficult to see. May be difficult in bright areas.
Screen/Image - Color/brightness changes, horizontal stripes appear. Normal under fluorescent/mercury lamps. Switch image stabilizer setting if needed.
Screen/Image - Band or ball of bright light appears. Change unit direction to avoid light source. Not a malfunction.
Screen/Image - Recorded subject is too dark. Use backlight compensation. Use "GAIN UP". Adjust "BRIGHTNESS ADJUST" to '+'.
Screen/Image - Recorded subject is too bright. Set backlight compensation to "OFF". Adjust "BRIGHTNESS ADJUST" to '-'.
Screen/Image - Color looks strange. Wait for white balance adjustment. Set "WHITE BALANCE" to "MANUAL" or adjust manually.
Screen/Image - Color looks different. Set "WHITE BALANCE" accordingly.
Screen/Image - Bright or dark spots on screen. Normal, 0.01% of pixels may have spots. Not recorded.
Other Problems - Buttons on touch screen do not work. Tap with fingers. Disable "SCREEN LOCK". Save data before service.
Other Problems - Image is grainy. Digital zoom makes image grainy.
Other Problems - Unit heats up. Normal when used for long time. Stop if too warm.
Other Problems - Language on display changed. May occur when connecting to TV via HDMI.
Other Problems - Connected to TV via HDMI, proper images/sounds not output. Disconnect/reconnect HDMI. Turn unit off/on.
Other Problems - HDMI-CEC functions do not work properly. Set "HDMI CONTROL" to "OFF".
Other Problems - Unit operates slowly. Copy all files to computer and erase from unit.
Other Problems - Unit does not function properly and error messages appear. Reset unit due to static discharge, noise, or interference.
Other Problems - CHARGE/POWER lamps blinking, operation disabled. Disconnect/reattach AC adapter. Turn on power. If issue persists, contact service.
Error Message? - SET DATE/TIME! Clock reset after battery depletion. Set clock after charging.
Error Message? - COMMUNICATION ERROR Reconnect USB. Turn devices off/on. Reset unit.
Error Message? - FORMAT ERROR! Reset this unit.
Error Message? - MEMORY CARD ERROR! Check card compatibility. Reset unit. Re-insert SD card. Clean terminals. Format SD card.
Error Message? - NOT FORMATTED Select OK, then YES to format.
Error Message? - RECORDING FAILURE Reset this unit.
Error Message? - CANNOT TAKE MORE STILL IMAGES AT THIS TIME Stop video recording before taking still images.
Error Message? - PLAYBACK FAILED Re-insert SD card. Remove dirt from terminals. Insert before power on. Avoid impact/vibration.
Error Message? - VIDEO MANAGEMENT FILE IS DAMAGED... Select OK to restore. Unrestored videos won't display, may play with "PLAYBACK OTHER FILE".
Error Message? - UNSUPPORTED SCENE! Use files recorded with this unit.
Error Message? - UNSUPPORTED FILE! Use files recorded with this unit.
Error Message? - THIS FILE IS PROTECTED Switch off "PROTECT/CANCEL" in EDIT menu.
Error Message? - CHECK CARD'S WRITE PROTECTION SWITCH Set write protect switch to off.
Error Message? - INSUFFICIENT AVAILABLE SPACE Delete files or move to computer. Replace SD card.
Error Message? - RECORDABLE MANAGEMENT CAPACITY LEVEL HAS BEEN REACHED Move files to computer. Format SD card with "FILE + MANAGEMENT NO".
Error Message? - SCENE QUANTITY EXCEEDED LIMIT Move files to computer. Format SD card with "FILE + MANAGEMENT NO".
Error Message? - NUMBER OF FOLDERS OVERFLOW Move files to computer. Format SD card with "FILE + MANAGEMENT NO".
Error Message? - FILE QUANTITY LIMIT EXCEEDED Move files to computer. Format SD card with "FILE + MANAGEMENT NO".
Error Message? - PLAYLIST QUANTITY EXCEEDS LIMIT Reduce playlist to 99 files or less.
Error Message? - RECORDING CANCELLED Reset this unit. Protect from vibration/shock.
Error Message? - CAMERA TEMPERATURE IS HIGH... Turn off unit to cool down before turning on again.
