Troubleshooting and error codes

Problem Possible Cause/Solution
Battery Pack
Unable to turn on the power when using the battery pack. Recharge the battery pack. Clean terminals. Use only JVC battery packs.
Short usage time even after charging. Battery deterioration. Replace with a new one.
Unable to charge the battery pack. Battery fully charged (lamp does not flash). Clean terminals. Use original battery pack.
The remaining battery display is not correct. Not displayed when AC adapter is connected. May be incorrect after prolonged use in extreme temperatures or repeated charging.
Recording
Recording cannot be performed. Check the switch. Set to recording mode using the (Play) Button.
Recording stops automatically. Unit stops after 12+ consecutive hours for circuit protection. Turn off, wait, then restart.
The continuous shooting speed of still images is slow. Repeated use can slow speed. SD card or recording conditions may affect speed.
The focus is not adjusted automatically. Adjust focus manually in dark or low-contrast situations. Wipe the lens. Cancel manual focus in the recording menu.
Digital zoom does not work. Not available in still image recording mode. Not available in time-lapse shooting. Set "ZOOM" to "90x/DIGITAL" or "800x/DIGITAL".
Card
Cannot insert the microSD card. Ensure correct orientation.
Unable to copy to microSD card. Set media settings. Format card if previously used on other devices.
Playback
Sound or video is interrupted. Interruption may occur at scene connections; not a malfunction.
The same image is displayed for a long time. Replace microSD card. Execute "FORMAT SD CARD".
The motion is choppy. Replace microSD card. Execute "FORMAT SD CARD".
Cannot find a recorded video. Cancel group display/date search. Check "REC MEDIA FOR VIDEO"/"IMAGE". Use "PLAYBACK MPG FILE" for damaged files.
No date/time display. Set "ON-SCREEN DISPLAY" and "DISPLAY ON TV" accordingly.
Images are projected vertically on the TV. Set "VIDEO OUTPUT" to "4:3". Adjust TV screen.
The image displayed on TV is too small. Set "VIDEO OUTPUT" to "16:9".
Unable to delete file. Protected files cannot be deleted. Release protection.
Unable to play back DVD with title. Title may not play back when connected to a DVD writer.
Editing/Copying
Unable to dub to a Blu-ray recorder. Use AV cable, not USB.
Unable to create DVD with a DVD writer. Ensure USB cable is connected correctly.
Unable to copy still images with a DVD writer. Copy to PC.
CREATE DVD menu does not disappear. Ensure USB cable is disconnected.
Unable to turn off the CREATE DVD menu. Turn off unit and DVD writer, or remove AC adapter.
PC
Unable to copy files to the PC's HDD. Connect USB cable. Install "Everio MediaBrowser" software. Ensure sufficient PC HDD space. Still images cannot be recorded to disk via software.
Unable to copy files to DVD with a PC. Requires a recordable DVD drive on PC.
Cannot upload the file to YouTube. Check YouTube account. Upload recording limited to 10 mins. File conversion not done on unit. Refer to software help file.
Cannot export the file to iTunes. Refer to software help file.
Screen/Image
The LCD monitor is difficult to see. May be difficult in bright sunlight.
A band or a ball of bright light appears on the LCD monitor. Change unit direction to avoid light source; not a malfunction.
The recorded subject is too dark. Use Backlight Compensation, "LIGHT", "NIGHT EYE", "GAIN UP", or adjust "BRIGHTNESS ADJUST" to "+".
The recorded subject is too bright. Turn off Backlight Compensation. Adjust "BRIGHTNESS ADJUST" to "-".
The color looks strange. Wait for colors to stabilize. Set "WHITE BALANCE" to "MANUAL" or adjust accordingly.
Other Problems
The slider and operation buttons do not work. Touch with fingers, not fingernails or gloves.
The unit operates slowly when switching between video mode and still image mode, or when switching the power on or off. Copy files to computer and erase from unit.
The image is grainy. Digital zoom enlarges image digitally.
The unit heats up. Normal; unit may become warm with prolonged use.
Make a backup of important recorded data Copy important data to DVD or other media. JVC not responsible for lost data.
