Getting Started

Charging the Battery Pack: Insert the battery, connect the AC adapter, and plug into an outlet. The power lamp blinks during charging.

Using the Battery Pack: Check approximate recording times for different battery packs.

Using AC Power: Connect the AC adapter to the camcorder and an outlet.

Grip Adjustment: Securely attach the grip belt for comfortable handling.

Viewfinder Adjustment: Adjust for clear viewing.

Tripod Mounting: Align the screw and tighten.

Loading/Unloading a Cassette: Open the cover, insert/remove tape, and close securely.

Date/Time Settings: Set the date and time via the menu.

Recording Mode Setting: Choose between SP and LP modes.

Basic Recording

Perform initial setup (power, grip, viewfinder, cassette, mode). Remove lens cap. Set power to "A" or "M". Open LCD or viewfinder. Press Recording Start/Stop to begin recording. Press again to stop.

Zooming

Turn the Power Zoom Ring clockwise to zoom in, counterclockwise to zoom out.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Warning Indication Meaning/Action
Battery Indicator (low to exhausted) Displays remaining power. Blinks when low, turns off unit when exhausted.
No tape loaded Check tape loading.
CHECK TAPE'S ERASE PROTECTION TAB Erase protection tab is set to "SAVE". Set to "REC" to record.
HEAD CLEANING REQUIRED USE CLEANING CASSETTE Dirt detected on heads. Use an optional cleaning cassette.
CONDENSATION, OPERATION PAUSED PLEASE WAIT Condensation detected. Wait for it to disappear (over 1 hour).
TAPE! Tape not loaded when recording is attempted.
TAPE END Tape has reached its end.
SET DATE/TIME! Date/time not set or built-in battery discharged.
LENS CAP Lens cap is attached. Appears for 5 seconds.
A. DUB ERROR! Error during Audio Dubbing (LP mode tape, 16-bit, or erase protection active).
INSERT ERROR! Insert Editing attempted on blank portion or LP tape, or erase protection active.
E01, E02 or E06 UNIT IN SAFEGUARD MODE REMOVE AND REATTACH BATTERY Malfunction. Remove power, wait, then reattach. Consult dealer if persistent.
E03 or E04 UNIT IN SAFEGUARD MODE EJECT AND REINSERT TAPE Malfunction. Eject and reinsert tape. Consult dealer if persistent.
