Getting Started

Power: Use the AC Power Adapter/Charger or battery pack for power. Charge the battery pack by connecting it to the AC adapter.

Attaching Battery: Tilt viewfinder up, align battery, push and slide down until it locks.

Using AC Power: Connect AC adapter to camcorder and AC outlet.

Grip/Viewfinder Adjustment: Adjust grip for comfort and viewfinder focus using the dioptre control.

Date/Time Settings: Set the date and time via the menu system.

Loading/Unloading Cassette: Open the cassette holder, insert/remove tape, and close the holder.

Recording Mode: Select SP (Standard Play) or LP (Long Play) via the menu.

Basic Recording

Lens Cap: Remove the tabs.

Power Switch: Set to 'A' (Full Auto) or 'M' (Manual).

Shooting: Use LCD monitor or viewfinder. Press RECORD/START/STOP to begin/end recording.

Snapshot Mode: Record still images.

Zooming: Use the Power Zoom Lever to zoom in or out.

Video Light: Use to brighten scenes in low light.

Troubleshooting and error codes

  • Dirty heads. Use cleaning cassette.
Blocks of noise appear during playback.

During recording, the Head Clog Warning indicator "�" appears.
  • Dirty heads. Use cleaning cassette.
Remote control is not functioning.
  • Batteries are exhausted. Replace with fresh AAA batteries.
LCD monitor is difficult to see in direct sunlight.
  • Use the viewfinder instead.
Cassette holder will not open.
  • Power supply is not attached. Attach battery or AC adapter.
  • Delay after opening cover. Wait for it to open automatically.
Cannot close cassette holder cover.
  • Battery charge is low. Replace with a fully charged battery.
Tape does not load properly.
  • Open cassette holder fully, remove cassette, wait, then re-insert.
  • Camcorder moved from cold to warm place. Wait before opening cover.
Serious malfunctioning occurs.
  • Stop using the unit immediately and consult your local JVC dealer.
