Basic Operations

  • Turning on the power: Press the /ATT button.
  • Selecting the source: Press the source buttons (FM/AM, CD, CD-CH for KD-G455) to choose the desired input.
  • Adjusting the volume: Turn the control dial or use the VOL+/VOL- buttons on the remote.
  • Canceling the display demonstration: Press and hold SEL for over 2 seconds, then select 'DEMO OFF'.
  • Setting the clock: Press and hold SEL for over 2 seconds, select 'CLOCK H' or 'CLOCK M', and adjust the hour/minute using the control dial.

Radio Operations

  • Listening to the radio: Select FM/AM band and use auto or manual search to find stations.
  • Storing stations: Use SSM for automatic FM preset or manual preset for FM/AM.
  • Tuning to preset stations: Select the band and number button for a stored station.

CD Operations

  • Playing a CD: Insert CD into the slot. Playback starts automatically.
  • Stopping and ejecting: Press the eject button.
  • Locating tracks: Use the number buttons or +/-10 buttons.
  • Playback modes: Select random or repeat play.

MP3 Operations

  • Playing MP3 discs: Insert MP3 disc. Folder and file names are displayed.
  • Locating files: Use the number or +/-10 buttons.
  • Playback modes: Select folder random, disc random, track repeat, or folder repeat play.

External Component Operations (KD-G455 only)

  • Connect and select 'LINE IN' to play external audio sources.

Troubleshooting and error codes

What appears to be trouble is not always serious. Check the following points before calling a service center.
Symptoms Causes Remedies
• Sound cannot be heard from the speakers. The volume level is set to the minimum level. Adjust it to the optimum level.
Connections are incorrect. Check the cords and connections.
• This unit does not work at all. The built-in microcomputer may have functioned incorrectly due to noise, etc. While holding SEL (select), press / ATT (standby/on attenuator) for more than 2 seconds to reset the unit. (Your preset adjustments will also be erased.) (See page 2.)
• SSM (Strong-station Sequential Memory) automatic preset does not work. Signals are too weak. Store stations manually.
• Static noise while listening to the radio. The antenna is not connected firmly. Connect the antenna firmly.
• Disc automatically ejects. Disc is inserted upside down. Insert the disc correctly.
CD-R/CD-RW is not finalized. • Insert a finalized CD-R/CD-RW.
• Finalize the CD-R/CD-RW with the component which you used for recording.
• Tracks on the CD-R/ CD-RW cannot be skipped.
• Disc can be neither played back nor ejected. Disc is locked. Unlock the disc. (See page 17.)
The CD player may have functioned incorrectly. While holding / ATT (standby/on attenuator), press ⏩ (eject) for more than 2 seconds. Be careful not to drop the disc when it is ejected.
• Disc sound is sometimes interrupted. You are driving on rough roads. Stop playback while driving on rough roads.
• “NO DISC” appears on the display. Disc is scratched. Change the disc.
Connections are incorrect. Check the cords and connections.
No disc in the loading slot. Insert a disc into the loading slot.
Disc is inserted incorrectly. Insert the disc correctly.
