Turning the Projector ON and OFF

To turn ON:

  • Remove the lens cap.
  • Ensure power and signal cables are connected.
  • Press the Power ON/OFF button on the control panel. The cooling fan will turn on, and the hp start-up screen will display.
  • Turn on your signal source. The projector will auto-detect it. If no signal is found, use the "Source" button to switch inputs.

To turn OFF:

  • Press the Power ON/OFF button. The lamp will turn off, and the cooling fan will run for a cool-down cycle.
  • The blue Power Indicator Light will blink until the cool-down is complete, then turn off.
  • Disconnect the power cord.

Adjusting the projected image

Adjusting display angle: Press and hold the elevation button to raise or lower the projector, then release to lock. Use the rear elevation foot for alignment.

Adjusting zoom and focus (xb31): Rotate the zoom ring for zoom. Rotate the focus ring for clarity. Focus is possible from 1.14 m to 12 m.

Adjusting focus (sb21): Rotate the focus ring until the image is clear. Focus is possible from 1.0 m to 12 m.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Problem Solution
No image is projected on screen.
  • Verify power and signal cable connections.
  • Ensure lens cap is removed and Power Indicator Light is ON.
  • Verify Lamp Indicator Light is OFF (replace lamp if ON).
  • Verify Temp Indicator Light is OFF (refer to page 14 if ON).
  • For notebooks, activate the external monitor port.
  • Check for damaged connector pins.
  • Check lamp installation.
Partial, scrolling or incorrectly displayed image.
  • Press the "Auto Image" button or use "Auto Image" in the "Computer Image" menu.
  • If using a computer, ensure resolution is compatible (1024x768 for xb31, 800x600 for sb21) or reset your computer's resolution.
  • Switch notebook display to "external display only" or "CRT only" mode.
  • Restart computer and projector if issues persist.
Notebook's screen is not displaying your presentation.
  • Check computer documentation; some notebooks deactivate their screen with a second display.
  • Activate the external monitor port.
