This section guides you through the initial preparation of the camera/recorder. Familiarize yourself with the controls and prepare for recording. Read and understand all safety instructions before beginning.
Charge the battery (VM-BP82) for approximately one hour. A charged battery provides 55-65 minutes of operating time. Charge within the temperature range of 50°F(10°C) - 86°F (30°C).
Pivot the electronic viewfinder for a comfortable viewing position. Return it to the original position before storing or carrying the camera/recorder.
Pull out the eye cup and adjust the diopter control for the clearest image. Push the eye cup in after use.
Remote Control Battery: Insert the battery into the holder with the '+' terminal facing outwards. Replace the holder securely.
Camera/Recorder Battery: Ensure the battery is fully charged. Align the battery's arrow with the camera/recorder's guide arrow and slide it in.
Push the BATT EJECT switch and slide the battery out.
The viewfinder displays battery charge status with three symbols: fully charged, partially charged, or nearly out of power.
AC Adapter/Charger: Ensure the camera/recorder switch is OFF. Plug the adapter into an AC outlet and connect it to the DC OUTPUT jack.
Alkaline Dry-Cell Batteries: Insert six "AA" batteries into the optional battery case. Ensure correct polarity. Attach the case to the camera/recorder.

| Power is not turned on and no button operations are accepted | Remove the power source and after about one minute, push the reset switch gently using a toothpick, etc, until you feel a click. The display will be reset. Then, set the information again. |

| Tape appears in the viewfinder. | Have you moved the camera from a cold place to a warm place so that its temperature changed abruptly? If the temperature has changed, remove the cassette and set the CAMERA/OFF/VIDEO switch to OFF, then wait for about one hour. Remove the cassette and then try to reinsert, remove it several times. If the indication is still shown in the viewfinder, use a cleaning tape clean the heads and replace the cassette. |
