Front Panel Controls:

Troubleshooting and error codes

Flow Chart No. Problem Possible Cause/Action
1 The power cannot be turned on. Check fuse. If normal, check for leaks/short-circuits on primary circuit components (Q1031, Q1003, etc.). If EV +3.3V is normal, check rectifying circuits.
2 The fuse blows out. Check for leaks/short-circuits on primary components. If rectifying diode or circuit is shorted, service. Replace fuse after servicing.
3 Output voltage fluctuates. Check photo coupler circuit operation. If abnormal, check IC1001, D1012, D1024.
4 Buzz sound from power circuit. Check for short-circuits on rectifying diodes and circuits (D1003, D1006, etc.).
5 -FL is not outputted. Check -23V supply to D1003 anode. If abnormal, check D1003 and periphery. If normal, check for leaks/short-circuits on loaded circuit.
6 P-ON+9V (EV+10V) is not outputted. Check 10V to Q1002 emitter. Check Q1002 base/emitter voltage. Replace Q1002 or check D1030, C1035, etc.
7 P-ON+5V is not outputted. Check "H" signal to Q1004 base. Replace Q1004 or check R1068, D1046.
8 P-ON+3.3V is not outputted. Check 3.3V to Q1011 collector. Replace Q1011 or R1067 or check D1008, C1007, etc.
9 EV+5V is not outputted. Check if EV+10V is outputted. If not, refer to Flow Chart No. 6. If yes, check D1047 and periphery.
10 EV+1.2V is not outputted. Check 2.5V to IC1002 Pin(3). Replace IC1002 or check D1006, C1014.
11 Fluorescent display tube does not light up. Check 3.3V to IC2001 Pins(6,24). Check -20V to IC2001 Pin(15). Check 500kHz oscillation at IC2001 Pin(26). Check filament voltage and negative voltage. Replace display tube or check associated components.
12 Key operation is not functioning. Check contact points and installation of key switches. Check IC2001 pin voltages when keys are pressed. Replace IC2001 or switches.
13 No operation from remote control. Check 5V to remote receiver. Check "L" pulse output from receiver. Check "L" pulse to CN1001 Pin(25). Replace receiver or remote control unit, or check connection.
14 Disc tray won't open/close (with remote). Check control voltage to IC2001 Pin(4). If abnormal, replace "OPEN/CLOSE" button (SW2108).
15 Disc tray won't open/close. Replace DVD Main CBA. If no improvement, replace DVD Mechanism.
16 [No Disc] (Focus error). Replace DVD Main CBA. If no improvement, replace DVD Mechanism.
17 [No Disc] (Focus servo not functioning). Replace DVD Main CBA. If no improvement, replace DVD Mechanism.
18 [No Disc] (Laser beam not lighting up). Replace DVD Main CBA. If no improvement, replace DVD Mechanism.
19 Picture and sound not operating normally. Replace DVD Main CBA. If no improvement, replace DVD Mechanism.
20 Picture not appearing normally. Check video signals at CN1601 and IC1402 pins. Check output to terminals. Replace CBA or Mechanism.
21 Audio not outputting normally. Check analog audio signals at CN1601 and IC1201 pins. Check mute signal. Check output to audio terminal. Replace CBA or IC1201.
