GE provides a one-year limited warranty covering defects in materials or workmanship for parts and labor.
Ensure water temperature is between 120°F and 150°F for effective cleaning. Use only automatic dishwasher detergent; hand dish detergent will cause excessive suds. A rinse agent is recommended for optimal drying. It's normal for a small amount of water to remain in the tub bottom after a cycle to lubricate the pump seal.
Normal Operating Sounds: Detergent cup opening, water entering, motor starting/stopping, drain pump sounds.
Scrape off large food particles, bones, and seeds. No pre-rinsing is required for most cycles. Remove leafy vegetables, excessive grease, and acidic food soils.
Upper Rack: For glasses, cups, saucers, and dishwasher-safe plastics. Ensure items do not fall through and block spray arms.
Lower Rack: For plates, saucers, and cookware. Place large items on the sides. Ensure soiled sides face the center.
Silverware Basket: Mix items, place handles up for knives/forks, handles down for spoons. Small plastic items can go in the bottom.
Open door when spray action stops, add dish, close door. Do not press START/CANCEL for 8 seconds.
| Problem | Possible Causes | What To Do |
|---|---|---|
| Noise | Some sounds are normal | Detergent cup opening; motor starting/stopping during drying; water draining immediately after starting. |
| Utensils not secure or small item dropped | Make sure everything is secured in the rack. | |
| Motor hums | Dishwasher not used regularly. Set to fill and pump out weekly. | |
| Detergent left in dispenser cups | Dishes blocking cups | Reposition dishes. |
| Water standing in the bottom of the tub | Drain is clogged | Clean air gap; check kitchen sink drainage; run disposer clear if applicable; a small amount of water keeps seal lubricated. |
| Suds in the tub | Correct detergent wasn't used | Use only automatic dishwasher detergent. To remove suds, open dishwasher, let evaporate, add 3.8L cold water, close and latch; repeat if necessary. |
| Rinse agent spilled | Wipe up rinse agent spills immediately. | |
| Stained dishwasher parts | Detergent with colorant used | Use detergent without colorant. Cascade is approved. |
| Some tomato-based foods stain | Use RINSE ONLY cycle after adding dish to reduce staining. | |
| Dishwasher won't run | Fuse blown or breaker tripped | Replace fuse or reset breaker. Remove other appliances from circuit. |
| Power is turned off | Ensure wall switch is on. | |
| Reboot control | Turn off power for 30 seconds, then turn back on. | |
| Steam | Normal | Comes through vent during washing, drying, and water pumping. |
| Beeping at the end of the cycle | Normal | Beeps 4 times (unless interrupted) and CLEAN light displays. |
| Dishes and flatware not clean | Low inlet water temperature | Ensure correct water temperature (see page 6). |
| Water pressure temporarily low | Turn on faucet; wait for normal pressure. | |
| Air gap is clogged | Clean the air gap. | |
| Improper rack loading | Ensure large items don't block dispenser or wash arms. | |
| No air gap or high drain loop | Verify air gap or drain loop; refer to Installation Instructions. | |
| Filter needs cleaning | Clean filter assembly regularly (see page 11). | |
| Spots and filming on glasses and flatware | Extremely hard water | Use Cascade Crystal Clear rinse agent. |
| Low inlet water temperature | Ensure water temperature is at least 49°C (120°F). | |
| Overloading/Improper loading | Load as shown in rack section. | |
| Old or damp powder detergent | Make sure detergent is fresh. | |
| Rinse agent dispenser empty | Check dispenser. | |
| Too little detergent | If water is extremely hard, a water softener may be required. | |
| Cloudiness on glassware | Combination of soft water and too much detergent | This is etching and is permanent. Prevent by using less detergent with soft water. Wash glassware in a short cycle. |
| Water temperature entering exceeds 65°C (150°F) | Lower water heater temperature. | |
| Black or gray marks on dishes | Aluminum utensils rubbed | Remove marks with a mild abrasive cleaner. |
| Yellow or brown film on inside surfaces | Tea or coffee stains | Remove stain by hand with 1/2 cup bleach and 3 cups warm water. |
| Iron deposits in water | A special filter in the water supply line is needed; contact a water softener company. | |
| White film on inside surfaces | Hard water minerals | Use dishwasher detergent on a damp sponge; wear gloves. Do not use other cleansers. Cascade is approved. |
| Dishes don't dry | Low inlet water temperature | Ensure correct water temperature (see page 6). |
| Rinse agent dispenser empty | Check dispenser. | |
| Control panel responded to input but dishwasher never filled with water | Door latch not properly seated | Make sure door is firmly closed. |
| Water valve turned off | Make sure water valve is turned on. | |
| Dishwasher beeps once every 15 seconds | Normal | Reminder that the door was left open. Close door after opening mid-cycle; press ON/OFF to turn off. |
