This manual provides important safety and operating instructions for the DEWALT DCMW564 lawn mower.

Starting Mower

Insert safety key until fully seated. Push and hold the ON-OFF button, then pull the bail handle to the handlebar. Release the ON-OFF button once the mower starts.

Stopping Mower

Release the bail handle.

Adjusting Handle Height

Unlock handle by pulling and twisting locks. Raise to operating position and lock by untwisting locks into detent holes.

Installing/Removing Battery Packs

Lift cover, slide battery into port until clicked. Close cover. To remove, open cover, depress release button, and pull out battery.

Mowing Tips

Inspect area for debris. Mow across slopes. Do not overload. Clean after use. Keep blade sharp.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Problem	Possible Solution
Mower doesn't run when bail handle is activated	Check battery installation and switch box button. Release bail handle, remove safety key and battery, check blade. Check battery cavity for debris. Ensure battery is fully charged.
Motor stops while mowing	Release bail handle, remove safety key and battery, check blade. Raise cutting height. Check battery cavity for debris. Ensure battery is fully charged.
Mower runs but cutting performance is unsatisfactory	Avoid overloading. Slow down or raise cutting height. Check blade sharpness and deck for clogging. Adjust wheel height.
Mower is too hard to push	Release bail handle, remove safety key and battery, raise cutting height. Check wheel rotation.
Mower is abnormally noisy and vibrates	Release bail handle, remove safety key and battery. Check blade for damage, replace if necessary. If no damage, reassemble blade assembly and check for debris. If still vibrating, return to service center.
Battery charger LEDs not on	Check plug connection. Replace charger.
Mower not picking up clippings with bag	Release bail handle, remove safety key and battery, clear chute. Raise cutting height. Empty bag.
