Basic Operation of the Contax 167MT

Loading Film: Open the camera back, pull out the film leader, insert it into the film take-up spool, and advance the film until frame "01" is indicated. Ensure the film is engaged with the sprockets.

Setting Exposure Mode: Use the "Mode" button and the "Operation Control" dial to select from Program (P, HP, LP), Shutter-priority (TV), Aperture-priority (AV), or Manual (M) modes. TTL auto exposure and auto flash modes are also available.

Focusing: Use the split-image/microprism collar in the viewfinder to achieve sharp focus. The viewfinder displays shutter speed, aperture, and exposure compensation.

Taking a Photo: Depress the shutter button halfway to activate the meter and display information. Fully depress to take the picture. AE Lock is available by keeping the shutter button half-pressed.

Film Advance: The camera automatically advances the film after each shot. Film can be rewound mid-roll using the rewind switch.
