Troubleshooting and error codes

Trouble Possible Cause Remedy
No picture or sound • The camcorder is turned off. • Turn on the camcorder.
• The lens cover is closed. • Open the lens cover.
• The battery is exhausted. • Charge the battery pack.
• The wrong mode is selected. • Select the correct mode.
• The memory card is full or not inserted. • Replace or insert a memory card.
• The disc is full or not inserted. • Replace or insert a disc.
• The recording media is not formatted. • Format the recording media.
• The AV output or HDMI output is not connected properly. • Connect the AV output or HDMI output properly.
• The lens is dirty. • Clean the lens.
• The camcorder is not functioning properly. • Reset the camcorder. If the problem persists, contact a Canon service center.
