Getting to know your tablet

  • Features and functions: Offers multimedia and entertainment features like internet connectivity, email access, social networking, and Dolby Mobile audio.

Setting Up

  • Unpacking your tablet: Carefully unpack the box and check for Acer ICONIA TAB, Quick Guide, USB cable, AC adapter, and Warranty card. Contact your dealer if anything is missing or damaged.
  • Getting to know your tablet: Familiarize yourself with the front view (Touchscreen, Front-facing camera, Light sensor), back view (LED flash, 5 MP camera, Speakers), top view (Micro HDMI, headphone jack, Power button), and bottom view (Reset button, USB connectors, DC-in jack).
  • Charging your tablet: For first-time use, charge for four hours. Connect the DC-in jack and plug the AC adapter into an outlet. The tablet may become warm during charging.

Using Your Tablet

  • Turning on for the first time: Press and hold the power button for two seconds. Follow on-screen instructions, including language selection.
  • Sign in to or create a Google account: Essential for synchronizing information, using Google Apps, downloading from Android Market, and backing up settings.
  • Locking your tablet: Briefly press the power button to save power and prevent unintentional use. The tablet locks automatically after a period of inactivity.
  • Waking your tablet: Press the power button to display the Lock screen. Drag the lock symbol to unlock.
  • Using the touchscreen: Tap to select, drag to move or select text/images.
  • The Home screen: Provides quick access to information and controls. Swipe left or right to view extended screens.
  • The application menu: Displays all installed applications, categorized into 'All' and 'My apps'.
  • Status and notification area: Located in the bottom-right corner, displays time, connectivity, battery status, and event notifications.
  • Personalizing the Home screen: Add/remove shortcuts or widgets, and change the wallpaper.
  • The onscreen keyboard: Appears when you tap a text box. Features include numbers, special characters, and predictive text.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Problem The device does not power on. The battery is depleted. Connect the device to a power outlet and charge the battery.
Problem The screen does not respond to touch. The screen is dirty or wet. Clean the screen with a soft, dry cloth. Ensure the screen is dry.
Problem Cannot connect to a Wi-Fi network. Wi-Fi is turned off or out of range. Ensure Wi-Fi is enabled in Settings. Move closer to the Wi-Fi router.
Problem Applications are not installing or updating. Insufficient storage space or unstable internet connection. Free up storage space or check your internet connection.
Problem The device is slow or unresponsive. Too many applications running in the background or low memory. Close unnecessary applications or restart the device.
